The Arizona Diamondbacks are on their way to Los Angeles for a division series matchup with the Dodgers after an 11-8 victory over the Colorado Rockies Wednesday night in Phoenix.
Diamondbacks First Baseman Paul Goldschmidt launched an early three-run homer as the Diamondbacks built a 6-0 lead before pitcher Zack Greinke faltered.
Rockies cut the lead down to one when Diamondbacks relief pitcher Archie Bradley hit a two-run triple.
“I was just trying to do something positive," Bradley said. "I was necessarily trying to hit a triple. I was up in a big situation. I knew I had a chance. A single would score a run. and I was just trying to compete. You put a bat in my hand, and I'm just trying to do the best I can.”
Bradley is the first relief pitcher ever with a triple in a postseason game.
It was one of four triples on the night for Arizona, which begins a best of five series in LA tomorrow with game three and four if necessary, in Phoenix on Monday and Tuesday.
