Arizona Firefighters Prepared To Send More Help To California

Arizona firefighters are prepared to offer their services to help California battle the deadly fires in the state’s wine country. Arizona has already sent 55 trucks and 150 personnel to combat the fires.

Tiffany Davila with the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management said, for some departments, it’s more difficult to offer help.

“Having an engine out of a smaller district, that could be a big burden for that area," she said. "So, they have to look at their own resources as well. And then they let us know if they’re available to send out.”

But Davila said Arizona residents shouldn’t be concerned about a lack of resources if a wildfire does break out here.

There is currently one active wildfire burning in Arizona. The 33 Springs Fire has burned over 1,800 acres near Coconino National Forest, north of Phoenix. It’s about 50 percent contained.
