Tempe Book Bike To Cruise Around City Carrying Books To Check Out

The Tempe Public Library is launching a new program that it hopes will bring more books into the community. Using a modified bicycle, the Tempe Book Bike will cruise around the city carrying donated books, which can be checked out.

Melissa Quillard is with the city of Tempe. "Ideally the goal of this is to reach our homeless population veterans in the community that don’t get to the library, seniors, it’s really going to target those underserved communities, with hopes to get them into the library someday to utilize those services," she said.

Quillard says this program is the first of its kind in the Valley. The Tempe Book Bike was paid for with grant money.
