Artificial intelligence is increasingly becoming part of information gathering for police investigations. One Valley company is bringing A.I. equipment to police.
It's the latest announcement by Valley-based Axon, maker of stun guns and body camera equipment.
Axon's research team will deliver A.I.-based video analysis to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The company said video review at police agencies across the country is backlogged. Agencies are looking for ways to electronically categorize images from body-worn video to reduce manual labor hours.
LAPD representatives said the department needs to cull through more than 33 years worth of video data.
The National Institute of Justice and the U.S. Justice Department helped pay for the new A.I. equipment with a grant.
