The Lost Lake music festival kicks off in Phoenix today. It’s expected to attract tens of thousands of people and festival organizers say they’re taking security concerns seriously in light of the recent mass shooting in Las Vegas.
They’ll be safety measures both seen and unseen to ensure the festival remains secure, says Rick Farman, whose company Superfly is producing the event.
The festival will take place in Steele Indian School Park. The Phoenix Police Department says it’s in communication with federal agencies and has been preparing for months, although wouldn’t give specifics.
Farman says the good thing is the Valley has experience hosting big events like the Super Bowl.
“We are always evolving what we do no matter what happens in terms of improving our measures. And certainly we are making adjustments now," Farman said.
