Maricopa County Recorder Gets Into Facebook Argument With Legislative Candidate

Maricopa County Recorder Adrian Fontes got into a Facebook spat with Nathan Schneider, a democrat who is running for the Arizona Legislature, after Schneider complained that he couldn’t find the election date on the ballot for Tuesday's local election.

On Oct. 29, Schneider wrote, “Adrian Fontes doesn’t listen to me, but if any of you have his ear, maybe you could ask him why they are not labeling the Election Day on the ballot…”

The two went on to trade insults in a series of comments.

Fontes then told him to “go f-yourself.”

Fontes defended his remark in subsequent comments, saying his “response was not only appropriate but deserved.”

In another Facebook post, Fontes wrote: “Passive aggressive attacks on my staff will be met with fierce and perhaps naughty language.”
