State Rep. Michelle Ugenti-Rita recently went public with a Facebook post describing harassment, including “unwanted sexual advances," she has faced since taking office in 2011.
Ugenti-Rita said she complained to House leadership at the time but nothing meaningful was done. She told KJZZ this week that the problems should have been addressed.
House Speaker J.D. Mesnard this week unveiled a detailed policy that is intended to cut off sexual harassment.
He said a policy has been in place but perhaps wasn’t clear.
Ugenti-Rita also made it clear that she believes any policy should cover both the House and Senate.
