National Weather Service: Phoenix Unusually Dry In October

October was unusually warm and dry. So dry in fact, the National Weather Service in Phoenix said last month was the fourth October without rain since 1896.

"We would have liked to see perhaps a little bit more rain especially in early September, which is the tail end of the monsoon season, which is one of our two wet periods during the year," said James Sawtelle, with the National Weather Service.

The next rainy season won’t arrive until wintertime.

But a spokesperson from the National Weather Service in Flagstaff said things are shaping up to be slightly drier.
