Phoenix has announced a new location for library services while the Burton Barr branch is closed for repairs.
Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton announced Thursday that the city will partner with the owner of Park Central Mall to open a temporary library location.
The City Council approved a one-year lease agreement for $675,000 with an option to terminate after nine months.
The location is two miles north of Burton Barr, which was closed to repair water damage in July and is currently scheduled to reopen in June 2018.
Planned to be open seven days a week, the new location will host family and teen programming as well as a selection of materials to check out and access to computers and the internet.
The Phoenix Public Library still has 16 functioning locations. The new temporary location is set to be open by the end of the year.
