New Study: Menopause Changes Could Increase Alzheimer's Risk

Women are more likely to develop Alzheimer’s disease than men, which researchers have known for years.

But a recent study written by a team from Weill Cornell Medicine at Cornell University and the University of Arizona Health Sciences may offer more insight into why there is a difference between the sexes.

The researchers say menopause causes metabolic changes in the brain that could increase the risk of Alzheimer’s in women.

One of the team members is Roberta Diaz Brinton, director of the UA Center for Innovation in Brain Science.
