Brewers To Stay In Maryvale For 25 Years Under New Deal

The city of Phoenix and the Milwaukee Brewers have a deal to keep the team’s spring training operation in Maryvale.

The agreement has the Brewers spending $41 million to $63 million for renovations to Maryvale Baseball Park. The city would kick in $10 million over 5 years toward that total, according to a staff report.

A big change in the agreement is the Brewers taking over operations and maintenance duties for the park. Phoenix will put in about $1.4 million for that each year. There’s also money designated for youth programs and tutoring.

The Brewers have played spring training in Maryvale since 1998. This agreement keeps them there through 2042.

The City Council is set to vote on the deal on Wednesday.
