Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton is proposing a new name for Terminal 3 at Sky Harbor Airport.
Terminal 4 is already named after former Sen. Barry Goldwater and Mayor Stanton is recommending Terminal 3 follow the same approach.
Stanton said Terminal 3 should bear the name of Sen. John McCain, who, like Goldwater, was a military aviator.
Terminal 3 is undergoing a $590 million renovation that’s set to be completed by 2020. New gates and a concourse are still under construction.
The proposal to rename Terminal 3 will have to go through a City Council vote on Nov. 29. If passed, it would then be forwarded to McCain’s office for his approval.
