Over the weekend, Border Patrol agent Rogelio Martinez was found dead in southwest Texas.
His partner was seriously injured and is currently hospitalized. According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the agents were responding to activity while on patrol near Interstate 10.
There has been speculation that the agents were attacked by drug smugglers, while others say it may have been an accident.
Both Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and President Trump have weighed in, calling for increased border security.
With me to explain more about what’s going on is Julian Aguilar, border and immigration affairs reporter for The Texas Tribune.
