Phoenix Thanksgiving Day Heat Ties Record

Thanksgiving Day was hot.

In fact, it high of 87 tied the Phoenix record for both Thanksgiving and Nov. 23, according to the National Weather Service.

Even though temperatures will be dropping, we can still expect temps to remain above average.

Temperatures are about 15 degrees above average.

Travis Wilson is a meteorologist with the National Weather Service. He said a ridge of high pressure is to blame for the warmer weather, and while the Valley is supposed to be cooling down, temperatures will still be higher than usual.

"Unfortunately, cooling down is still above average. So say we cool down to the upper 70s which it looks like is possible in the middle of next week, our average high is around 72," said WIlson.

He said this trend of above-average temperatures could continue into the winter if predictions from the Climate Prediction Center hold steady.
