EPA Set To Mark Its 47th Anniversary

In just a few days, the EPA will mark its 47th anniversary.

The agency was established during the Nixon administration and while different administrations have emphasized different environmental issues, the current administration is emphasizing a shake-up.

Some former EPA employees have joined scientists, engineers and others to form a group called the Environmental Protection Network. The goal is to preserve and advance what it calls the "nation’s bipartisan legacy of progress."

Ruth Greenspan Bell is a public policy scholar at the Woodrow Wilson International Center in Washington, D.C. She also spent many years working for the federal government, managing lawyers who represented the EPA.

As a senior field correspondent, Christina Estes focuses on stories that impact our economy, your wallet and public policy.
