Pros And Cons Of National Monument Reductions In Utah

President Trump will be in Utah later this morning, and he’s expected to officially announce the reduction of two national monuments in Utah. One is Bears Ears, which was established via the Antiquities Act by President Obama. A number of environmental groups and Native American tribes are unhappy with President Trump’s move.

But there are supporters. One of them is the president of the San Juan County, Utah Chamber of Commerce Bill Boyle, and he's here to talk about it why he's in favor of what President Trump is doing with the monuments designation.

On the other side of the argument, conservationists and groups like the Bears Ears Intertribal Coalition have been very vocal in their opposition to any shrinking of the Utah National Monuments.

For that take, we have Matt Campbell, a staff attorney Native American Rights Fund, which represents three of five tribes affected by Bears Ears decisions: the Hopi, Pueblo Zuni and Ute Mountain Ute.
