Flake Urges Bipartisan Solution For DACA Recipients

Arizona Sen. Jeff Flake spoke on the floor of the Senate Tuesday afternoon, calling for a bipartisan legislative solution to DACA recipients who face deportation beginning in March of next year.

Flake said those in the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program have embraced the values of hard work and perseverance and in turn their communities have embraced them as their own.

“Some of the most compelling pleas on behalf of these young people have come from those who know them best. These kids are not just Americans in their own eyes. They are Americans in the eyes of their friends, their classmates, their teachers and their co-workers,” Flake said.

The junior senator, who is not seeking reelection in 2018, said because DACA recipients were brought to the U.S. through no fault of their own, no one should want to see them deported.
