Researcher Discusses Progress Of Alzheimer's Research

Researchers around the world are working to make advances in treatments or, potentially, a cure for Alzheimer’s disease. People are living longer — and the number of cases continues to rise.

An article in the journal Science Daily is reporting that hyperbaric oxygen therapy could alleviate symptoms of Alzheimer’s. It’s one potentially hopeful sign, but greater breakthroughs are still very much needed.

To get an overall progress report of sorts on Alzheimer’s research — specifically prevention-related research — The Show talked with Dr. William Burke. He is director of the Stead Family Memory Center at Banner Alzheimer’s Institute.

Burke is speaking Wednesday, Dec. 6, at 5:30 p.m. at the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Phoenix.

Steve Goldstein was a host at KJZZ from 1997 to 2022.
