A former NBA star was sentenced to 2.5 years in prison for his involvement in a telemarketing scam in Scottsdale.

Chris Gatling preyed on vulnerable seniors. Gatling, who made millions during an 11-year NBA career, was convicted of selling fraudulent websites to a dozen seniors, then spending the ill-gotten gains on a lavish lifestyle of clothing, restaurants and strip clubs.

The Arizona Attorney General’s Office says some seniors lost their entire life savings to Gatling, who in addition to the 2.5 years in prison, was also sentenced to three years' probation once released.

It’s not the first time the 50-year-old Gatling has been in trouble in Arizona. In 2013, he pled guilty to squatting and trying to rent out a Paradise Valley home he had been renting himself.
