Arizona Sen. Jeff Flake On Doug Jones Victory: 'Decency Wins'

As the margin narrowed Tuesday night in Alabama’s Senatorial race, Arizona’s Republican Sen. Jeff Flake took to Twitter to write “Decency Wins.”

He was rooting for the Democratic candidate Doug Jones, despite President Donald Trump and the National Republican Committee’s support for their embattled candidate Roy Moore.

Flake recognized the loss of a senate seat to a democrat in Congress leaves a razor thin majority for the GOP going forward.

“One short of where we are now, but it is still a better position than it would be with Roy Moore here," Flake said.

The retiring senator took to Twitter last week and posted a picture of a personal check for $100 to Doug Jone’s campaign.  In the bottom corner he noted it was for “Country over party.”
