The Arizona Game and Fish Department is urging residents and hikers to be on the lookout for a bear that has been seen several times in the mountains near Tucson this past week.
Spokesman Matt Hart said the animal was first seen near Tanque Verde Falls on Tuesday afternoon.
“It’s a black bear, but it’s described as brown in color with a blond patch on its back. It may be a fairly young bear. It’s rather thin in appearance, which is of concern," he said.
Hart said it is puzzling why a bear would be so thin after what should have been a good summer. He also says there are great concerns when any wild animal gets close to residential areas.
