Technology Experts Doubt The Effectiveness Of Proposed Bill

The bill proposed by state Sen. John Kavanagh would make it illegal to impersonate a person on a computer. Ken Colburn, CEO of Data Doctors, said the bill is “too general” and would be difficult to enforce.

“From an enforcement standpoint, is that only, you know does the law only apply to people that are in Arizona. Does it only apply to websites in Arizona? I mean, you know there’s no clear clarity to me on how’d you actually go about enforcing that even if it was put into place," Colburn said.

According to Colburn, Ticketmaster and other businesses are already making efforts to police ticket scalpers, which he said is a better way to deal with the issue.
