ADOT Shifts Traffic Near Tuscon For Highway Improvement Project

Drivers on Interstate 10 will see a few changes this weekend. This is part of a major highway improvement project in the Tucson area.

Steve Elliott is with the Arizona Department of Transportation. He said ADOT crews are moving eastbound traffic into new lanes of I-10 at Ina Road.

“This two-year project at Ina Road and I-10 is creating a traffic interchange that will better accommodate traffic at a growing area northwest of Tucson," Elliott said. "The current interchange has traffic stopping for trains and there’s quite a few of them every day.”

The new interchange, which will be completed over the next year, will carry Ina Road traffic over the Union Pacific railroad tracks.

Elliott said the project is about halfway done.

Westbound I-10 traffic will shift in January.
