Phoenix Officials Want Residents To Recycle Their Christmas Trees

With Christmas over, it’s time to decide what to do with the tree. Because it’s drying out rapidly, the tree becomes more of a fire hazard with each passing day.

Rather than dumping them in a landfill, officials are pressing for more recycling of the trees. Phoenix recycling program spokeswoman Brenda Yanez said it’s a good alternative.

"Instead of throwing them out, our residents, any residents of the Valley, can drop off the Christmas tree at one of our participating parks,” Yanez said.

Yanez said recycling the trees is the best way to ensure they are ground up properly.

Tree recycling programs vary from city to city, so check for specific details on how to participate.
