Scientists Report Ozone Hole Smallest Its Been in Nearly 30 Years

The hole in Earth’s ozone layer this year was the smallest it’s been in almost 30 years, since 1988.

Each September, scientists from NASA measure the hole over Antarctica; they say its reduced size this year was strongly impacted by ‘an unstable and warmer Antarctic vortex.’

Here to explain is Kevin Gurney, a professor in the School of Life Sciences at ASU — he studies the global carbon cycle and climate change.
