Arizona State University Offers Active Shooter Training

The United States endured several active shooter situations in 2017 and organizations across the country are becoming more proactive. Arizona State University is one of those organizations.

The ASU Police Department is offering free active shooter training to students and staff, in hopes of increasing their chances of surviving an active shooter event. Katy Harris is the public information officer for ASU Police. She said attendees will watch active shooter video scenarios and discuss tactics that reinforce the "run, hide, fight" concept.

“If you can run, then you know run away from the situation safely," Harris said. "If you can’t run, if you’re in a situation where you can’t get out then try to hide and then of course if hiding becomes impossible then you need to fight for your life.

These trainings will be held on multiple ASU campuses throughout the semester.
