Tucson firefighters are reminding Arizona residents to get rid of any real Christmas trees still in their homes.
Fire Captain Andrew Skaggs said real trees were probably cut down two or three months ago, meaning they’re now dry and brittle.
“You know have an extremely flammable product in your house," Skaggs said. "A flick of a spark is enough to get this Christmas tree and cause it to go up in flames within seconds.”
Skaggs said a woman and her son recently escaped a fire that started with their Christmas tree, but crews were able to limit the damage to the living room.
