2017 Marks Warmest Year On Record In Phoenix

If you felt like 2017 was a little warmer than usual, you’re not alone. 2017 marked the warmest year on record for the city of Phoenix.

2017 was also one of the warmest years on record for the state of Arizona.

Mark O’Malley is a meteorologist for the National Weather Service in Phoenix. He said that warming trend doesn’t look like it will end anytime soon.

“Unfortunately these are records we continue to set every year," O'Malley said. "It looks like the foreseeable future will continue to be warm and warmer than that.”

Until now, 2014 was the warmest year on record for Phoenix.

O’Malley said in addition to the warm temperatures, there’s been a lack of rain across the state.
