Arizona Congressman Ruben Gallego said he’s concerned about comments made by Admiral Mike Mullen, a former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, that diplomacy is not working.
Gallego said diplomacy is always an option.
Speaking on CNN, he said whether the U.S. will be part of any talks between the two Koreas is unclear.
On Tuesday, South Korea offered high-level talks with the North to find ways to cooperate on the upcoming Winter Olympics.
Gallego said the U.S. needs to be a part of that.
"The fact that South Korea is working across the border with North Korea tells us how bad our relationship with South Korea is," Gallego said.
Gallego also expressed concerns over how President Donald Trump was handling protests in Iran.
