Residents in legislative District 13 have a new state senator. The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors appointed Sine Kerr to replace Steve Montenegro, who stepped down in December.
Montenegro resigned from his seat to run for U.S. Rep. Trent Franks' now open position in Congress.
Kerr comes to the state Legislature with a background in agriculture. She’s the co-owner of Kerr family farms. Kerr has also chaired the women’s leadership committee of the Arizona Farm Bureau.
Legislative District 13 spans a large swath of southwest Arizona from Yuma to Buckeye.
