It’s been one year since Paul Penzone took over the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office from Joe Arpaio, who left the position amid controversy and lawsuits after an eventful 24 years in charge.
Penzone said he would clean up the MCSO and rebuild trust — especially among communities of color.
