Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey announced Friday that SkyBridge Arizona is building a new customs facility at Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport.

Ducey made the announcement at the 2018 Legislative Forecast Luncheon hosted by the Arizona Chamber of Commerce.

The facility will be the United States’ first inland international air logistics and processing hub with Mexico and could attract more commercial air traffic to the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport.

Ducey said the development will generate at least 10,000 jobs directly connected to SkyBridge.

Air freight between Arizona and Mexico has grown 180 percent from 2011 to 2015, with air freight trade totaling $390 million annually. That number is expected to increase to over $650 million by 2025.
