Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey is getting ready to deliver the State of the State address Monday. He said he’ll continue to build on accomplishments in his three years in office.
Ducey said because there’s so much work to do this legislative session, the State of the State and budget come first, ahead of any talk of campaigning for a second term.
He admitted that the Arizona education system is not perfect, but said he believes there’s been a lot of progress over the past three years.
"We’ve had additional investment of over $700 million," Ducey said. "These are news dollars that are coming into K-12 education. We have constitutionally guaranteed funding going forward because the voters said yes to Proposition 123."
Ducey refused to comment on Democrats Steve Farley and David Garcia, who want to become the next governor. He’ll also touch on the opioid crisis in Arizona and the effect of recidivism on state prisons.
