Gov. Doug Ducey touched on a number of issues yesterday in his State of the State speech — from prison recidivism to wrong-way drivers to sexual harassment. He also announced plans to soon call a special session of the legislature to deal with the opioid epidemic.
Another of the important issues expected to dominate this year’s legislative session is education funding. The governor called for more spending on K-12, including more money for teacher pay. And he contrasted that with his plan to not ask for more money for the Department of Corrections.
Joining me now to talk about the governor’s speech, and the reaction to it is Howie Fischer of Capitol Media Services.
