We’ve all heard people from corporate life who are running for office use the phrase, “I’m going to run government like a business.” What that means and whether it’s successful is subject to debate.
But as The Wall Street Journal recently reported, more people with advanced business degrees are moving toward public service and running for office. Nearly 40 Harvard Business School graduates of the 2017 class have moved into government and nonprofit positions, while others have become political candidates.
What’s causing the shift? Are business and politics really compatible?
