Former Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano sued the federal government over the rescinding of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals or DACA. Napolitano is now President of the University of California.
A judge ruled in Napolitano’s favor. However, when she was asked on CNN if the ruling negates the need for a congressional solution to DACA, Napolitano said absolutely not.
“I still think that it is urgent for Congress to act,” Napolitano said. “The ruling is temporary in nature. As I like to say, show me a 10 foot wall. I will show you a 12 foot ladder."
Napolitano said the ruling does allow those who are currently enrolled in DACA or who lost their DACA status after Sept. 5 to re-enroll. She said it’s a protection for the 800,000 or so Dreamers already in the program.
