Maricopa County Board Of Supervisors Names Lesko Replacement

The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors has named a replacement for Republican state Sen. Debbie Lesko who resigned to run for Congress.

Republican Rick Gray was unanimously named by the Board of Supervisors to replace Lesko. He will be sworn in Friday.

He had previously served in the Arizona House. One of the supervisors described Gray as a “class act.”A dozen Republicans and three Democrats are seeking former Congressman Trent Franks’s old seat, who resigned amid sexual harassment allegations. A primary is set for next month, followed by an April general election.
