Plane Returns To Phoenix Sky Harbor After Mechanical Issue Reported

A flight from Phoenix to Honolulu had to return to Sky Harbor International Airport on Saturday  because of a mechanical issue.

American Airlines Flight 692 took off just after 3 p.m. when the pilot reported seeing an indicator light. American Airlines spokeswoman Katie Cody said the Phoenix Fire Department was staged on the runway, but the flight landed without issue.

"They are going to cancel the flight so maintenance can evaluate the plane,” Cody said. “But they will rebook the passengers on other flights."

The flight landed back at Sky Harbor about 45 minutes after take-off. There were 270 passengers and 10 crew members aboard.
