Arizona Gov. Ducey On DPS Pursuit Policy Following Recent Chase

Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey is speaking up about the Department of Public Safety’s pursuit policy. This comes after last Wednesday’s major car chase that ended in a crash in Tempe.

When asked if the pursuit policy could be endangering the public, Ducey said he’s taking a wait-and-see attitude.

"There’s an internal investigation going on at DPS. I want that investigation to play out. And I want to encourage all of our citizens, when the police are behind you and they turn on the lights, please pull over safely," Ducey said. "We can avoid this type of situation."

Wednesday’s crash involved Mitch Taebel’s car and a woman’s vehicle as troopers chased Taebel. The woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Taebel is in jail on several charges.
