Valley Metro Enhances Online Accessibility for Visually Impaired

Valley Metro is looking to improve the experience of its visually impaired riders, starting with better website accessibility to help plan trips.

Hillary Foose is a spokeswoman for Valley Metro. She said the transit agency worked with the Arizona Center for Disability Law.

“There are voice tags that allow them to hear the way they are moving through the site to be able to effectively plan a trip," Foose said. "Whether for work or business or pleasure.”

Foose said the improvements have been made both on Valley Metro’s website and its RideKick mobile app.

Valley Metro also says that it's developing and publishing downloadable accessible documents that list all stop numbers along with bus and light-rail routes.
