Mexicans’ views of Americans have plummeted since the election of Donald Trump. Two new studies show that most Mexicans hold an unfavorable view of the U.S. for the first time.

One study, from the Chicago Council on Global Affairs, said 65 percent of Mexicans have an unfavorable view of the U.S. today, which is a flip from what was reported in 2015. And a study from the Woodrow Wilson Institute shows a spike in Mexican contempt and distrust for the U.S. in 2017.
Christopher Wilson, deputy director of the Wilson Center’s Mexico Institute, said this can be traced squarely to the President’s rhetoric about Mexico — from his campaign statements about Mexican immigrants being rapists, to his frequent rally chant to build a wall.
