Paul Shirley has traveled the world as a professional basketball player. That may sound glamorous, but it also meant he bounced around from team to team and country to country without any real firm commitments about how long he’d be able to last.
More than a decade ago, he landed in Phoenix, playing for a Suns team that featured the organization’s renaissance with Steve Nash as the star player.
Shirley wrote about some of those experiences in his first book, "Can I Keep My Jersey?"
Shirley has been working on his craft since and recently had his second book published. It’s a collection of essays, many of which provide further details of his life overseas as a 6-foot-10 American trying to figure out what’s next. He joins me to talk about his latest, "Stories I Tell on Dates."
