Arizona Republicans Support Resolution To Prevent Government Shutdown

Arizona Freedom Caucus House Republicans support the latest continuing resolution to keep the government from shutting down this week. Republican Paul Gosar of northwest Arizona says the selling point for him was money for the military.

“It’s fully funding the military for the full year,” Gosar said. “(It’s) giving the discretionary spending and enabling the senate to do its due diligence of passing (an) appropriation bill.”

The Senate also is coming to an agreement on a two-year budget deal . The bill now goes to the Senate and if it strips out the military funding, Arizona’s Freedom Caucus Republicans say they may withhold their votes, leading to a shutdown.
