Tax-related scams and identity theft are still serious issues across the United States, especially during tax-filing season. The Arizona Department of Revenue (ADOR) is reminding taxpayers to protect their private information from scam artists.
Ed Greenberg, , with ADORsaid there are some red flags to look out for.
"This agency will never use unsolicited email, text messages, or any social media to discuss their personal tax information," Greenberg said. "The Arizona Department of Revenue does not call to demand immediate payment or call about taxes owed without having initial communication with them through the mail."
Arizonans with tax-related ID theft questions should contact the ADOR’s identity theft call center or the Internal Revenue Service.
