The federal government passed a $400 billion budget deal after a brief shutdown, it was signed by President Donald Trump Friday morning.
Arizona lawmakers in both the House and Senate were mixed on the bill, which includes huge spending increases for the Pentagon, as well as $89 billion for disaster relief.
Senator Jeff Flake opposed the measure.
"We’re about to vote on a bill to abandon self-imposed limits on federal spending," Flake said. "And anybody who has spent time in Washington will know once you raise spending limits you just don’t get them back down."
Flake also said “the only time we discover bipartisanship is when we spend more money.”
