Parents, Teachers, Students Expected To Rally Against SUSD Leadership

A group calling itself ACT Now – which stands for Accountability, Community and Transparency – will hold a rally this afternoon ahead of a Scottsdale Unified School District Governing Board meeting. Members have a number of concerns with the district’s leadership.

There’ve been some controversies in the district recently, including one that forced the resignation of its CFO. So, to get a sense of the mood of some in the SUSD, I spoke with Dana Fuller. She’s one of the organizers of this afternoon’s event. She's a member of ACT Now, and has three kids in the Scottsdale Unified School District.

And, in a statement, Scottsdale Unified School District Governing Board President Barbara Perleberg says, "We respect the community’s right to gather and express their concerns. We offer a forum for sharing those concerns in our monthly Governing Board meetings as well. We hope tonight’s event will be respectful and non-disruptive, so that we may have an opportunity to listen to concerns and to conduct business."
