How Expensive Is it To Be Poor In America?

How expensive is it to be poor in the U.S? It’s a question that’s gotten renewed attention after Bank of America recently got rid of its only free checking account without a minimum balance requirement.

With me to talk about some of the challenges low-income Americans face in the banking system, and some of the ways to work around those challenges is Dory Rand, president of the Woodstock Institute, a Chicago-based nonprofit.
