Arizona’s flu rate continues to climb.
Jessica Rigler, with the Arizona Department of Health, said the state has seen a record number of flu cases during this unusually bad season.
"23,000 cases of flu reported in Arizona is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to influenza activity here," Rigler said. "That’s only counting individuals who have visited a health care provider and had a positive test."
Rigler said more than 450 Arizonans have died from the flu so far this season. She said that’s about 200 more than what’s typically seen around this time. Rigler called it alarming.
