Ruling Expected In Lawsuit Challenging Border Wall

A ruling is expected anytime now in a lawsuit challenging the Trump administration’s efforts to build a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border.

The lawsuit was brought by environmental groups like the Center for Biological Diversity as well as the state of California, and it alleges that the government doesn’t have the right to waive environmental laws in order to build prototypes and to replace 17 miles of the wall in San Diego County.

The judge heard arguments in this case last week.

Judge Gonzalo Curiel heard arguments in this case on Friday and a ruling is expected as early as today. On Friday, the courtroom was full, and I got a hold of one person who was there.

Jean Guerrero is with KPBS in San Diego. I started by asking her to lay out these arguments for us.
