As the immigration debate continues in Washington, there are still dozens of people each year dying on the U.S.-Mexico border as they attempt to come to the United States.
And this weekend, the Global Justice Center at the University of Arizona will hold a symposium on this continuing problem.
This symposium has been going on for some time to highlight migrant deaths in the desert, and it’s still necessary today, according to Celestino Fernandez, professor emeritus at UA. That’s because it’s a problem that’s getting worse, not better.
I got a hold of him earlier this morning via Skype to talk more about it.
